About Me
How it all started...
I bought my first camera when I was 10 years old. It really was a wonderful feeling that moment I went into the store with my cash and said to the teller " I would like to purchase that camera please". I had been eyeing it out for months.
From then on this is where my overwhelming passion for all things photography began!
I used to get so excited to take my film down to the photo shop to be developed to see what amazing creations I created and then learning from my them to make the next load of photos better than before. I was blessed to receive a very old camera that belonged to my grandfather and this brought on my love for vintage photography.
At school I was always the one with a camera in hand, capturing those carefree and innocent childhood years. I was also that annoying friend that always had a camera on a night out and as a result I have so many wonderful snapshots of my child free, no responsibility days.
I am originally from Zimbabwe and photography courses or colleges where pretty much non-existent so it was all trial and error for me. My parents couldn't afford to send me to South Africa to a college. BUT, that never stopped me.
It wasn't until I moved to the U.K at 21 that I managed to buy my first DLSR camera and I straight away wanted to know more about the camera and techniques. The camera never left my side, taking it on every holiday and outing I could. It was not until I moved to the Isle of Wight and my daughter Millie was born that found I had the opportunity to capture her growing up and those carefree moments.
My favourite thing to photograph is the everyday memories, the ordinary moments, and the little details that make me smile. Showing someone's character and free spirit brings me so much joy.
I have spent the last 10 years working in Wedding & Events Industry as a wedding manager. I have watched and learnt from photographers over the years and with their help I have now finally taken the leap into the Wedding Photography.
Taking photos takes me to my happy place, I can’t really explain it, but having my camera in my hand, clicking away, gives me a feeling that I don’t think I will ever tire off.
I really love to tell a story and above all I want to freeze time and capture those little details forever.
I now live in our little home in Ventnor with my daughter (and our cat Halle!), our life is ordinary but its those ordinary moments that are sometime the sweetest.
Lots of Love
Ashleigh, Millie & Halle
